Compression used to be the tier you upgraded for. That never sat right. The work happens on device, the cost curve does not justify a paywall, and the people who need fast compression most are usually the ones on the smallest plan.

So it ships to everyone.

Faster uploads to HooliDrive

Syncing a compressed archive to HooliDrive is about three times faster. Large folders upload in the background while you keep working, and interrupted transfers resume from the exact chunk that failed instead of starting over. The sync indicator now shows per-file progress rather than a single aggregate bar, which makes it obvious when one oversized file is holding up the queue. Connections on flaky networks retry with backoff for up to an hour before surfacing an error.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to connect GitHub to use the platform? No. Manual writing is a first-class flow in the editor. You connect with GitHub only if you want to pull in context of what you actually shipped or if you want to automate the complete workflow.

Are subscriber emails stored on ReleasesHQ? Your subscriber list lives in your ReleasesHQ workspace, encrypted at rest, and you can export or delete it at any time. Release emails go out from a domain you verify yourself, so they arrive from you rather than from us.

Which channels are supported? Every workspace gets a hosted release notes page, a script tag to embed on your website or app. You can also email through your own domain, post to Slack, LinkedIn and X / Twitter.

How does the embed work? A single script tag renders release notes inline wherever you choose to embed. Dark mode gets applied automatically based on the page’s design.

Can drafts be edited before publishing? Yes. You’re notified to review every release before it goes live, with time to edit or hold it. You can also turn off auto-publishing entirely and drafts wait in your queue until you ship them yourself.

Can bad content get auto-posted? No. Every auto-generated draft runs through a quality gate. Weak drafts skip auto-publish and land in your queue for review.
